Blair Morgan Family Trust

Sunday, September 28th, 2008, filed under Latest News | 2 Comments »

from Wayne Madsen. Many people have asked about how they can help Blair and his family. Some have already planned some events or are planning some fundraisers. A trust has now been established and a trust account has been set up at Royal Bank of Canada. I have applied for a paypal account and I am just waiting for the bank account verification process to complete. I should have that by Sep 30 as it takes about 5 days. Once that is set up anyone wishing to donate to help Blair and his family will be able to do so through paypal to blairmorgantrust@bmrt.com or deposit to the Royal Bank. Event funds can also be deposited to the trust account.

Events; as they become finalized, we will post them on a page on our website and provide contact information. A company, www.sellyourevents.com has generously offered the use of their software to promote and sell tickets or items with the deposits going directly to the trust account through paypal. We will create events as it seems appropriate. Thanks again, and god bless all of you for your caring and support.

Operation Inspiration (Tees and Helmets)

from Ashlee Painchaud…Hi Wayne. Ian Hayden, Steve Taylor, Brett Turcotte and I sat down and thought of the word that best described Blair to us all and after going through many we came up with “Inspiration.” My plan was to make up a thousand t-shirts with the word Inspiration being strongly visible in a logo that honored blair.
Then Chad Harris of HCP designs contacted me and wanted to do something with a helmet painting, with those boys already on board I decided, why not make this a huge movement and get every Pro we can on board.
Chad Harris said he will come up with a design that we can then apply on the shirts and helmets that go with each other. Since not everyone can have a helmet but everyone can buy a t-shirt. Bill Combs of Alpine Designs in Michigan who has done the team merchandise in the USA will do the tee shirts. We came up with the colors white, blue and black. White because the shirts were going to be white and blue because it is Blair’s favorite color and black because it would make blue stand out and just worked well.  Then of course the helmets have to have orange on them so we decided on a huge orange 7 C on the back and the word “inspiration” in orange as well. Chad is talking to the ISR and ISOC to make sure the helmet design complies.

Wayne…So we will keep people informed as we pull this plan together. Some people organizing events can arrange to get shirts to sell, and some will be sold on ebay. Thanks to Ashlee and Blair’s past teammates and good friends.

Blair Update Sep 27 (Montreal)

by Terri Morgan  I wanted to first say thank you for the overwhelming support, well wishes as well as the lovely flowers Blair has received. The room smells wonderful, much like a botanical garden and we have run out of counter space. Just knowing how many lives he has touched is so wonderful.

This update of his recovery is overdue and I apologize for how late it is coming to you our focus has definitely been on arranging his return closer to home and of course the initial shock and urgency in his immediate needs.  Late afternoon Monday September 22nd Blair was moved from the ICU unit in the hospital to a recovery floor. He is working closely with his physiotherapist, occupational therapists and the hospital staff on his recovery. He still has no sensations or movement in his lower body, however he is working on managing the pain around his T4 and T5 vertebrae and keeping his upper body strong. He is dealing very well with the his difficult experience with a positive and focused attitude all the while missing Corbyn and Breck and looking forward to moving facilities to be closer to family.

I have been watching Blair stay strong and work hard for the past six days since the accident and all I can say is how proud I am of him and how much of a fighter he is in any situation.   Sincerely  Terri Morgan

Blair Update Sep 22

From Terri Morgan Blair’s wife. As most of you know Blair has suffered a substantial injury due to a crash while practicing for Montreal Supercross at the Olympic Stadium in Montreal. During Saturday afternoon practice in Montreal, Blair sustained substantial injuries to his middle back. A surgery was performed and went well, however it was soon discovered that as a result of the vertebrae separating from each other on impact, Blair’s spinal cord was severed, leaving him with paralysis from his middle back down. He was taken off the ventilator soon after surgery and has been progressing well since. This afternoon (September 22, 2008) he was moved out of ICU to the orthopaedic floor and arrangements are now being made for his transfer closer to home. He is resting now and he is focused on recovering and working closely with the physiotherapists. I know as most of you do as well, Blair is a fighter and this incidence will not keep him down for long.

Special thanks to everyone for their well wishes, just so you know there are so many people rooting for Blair and we really appreciate it so much.
