Round 6 on the WPSA Tour brought the team out east to the birthplace of Ski-Doo snowmobiles in Valcourt, Quebec, Canada.

While the 24 hour drive for the team is a little grueling, the chance to perform at our best in front of the friendly Quebec motorsports fans and the Ski-Doo factory people that support our team is a welcome oppurtunity.

The weather Saturday and Sunday was very cold and brisk winds made conditions even tougher on the teams. The cold temps cause very dusty snow conditions with poor visibility, making a good start critical.

VALCOURT, Quebec (Feb. 19, 2006) — Blair Morgan said last week at Park X of Quadna he was out to be the spoiler this weekend. A spoiler he was as the man they call “Superman” won both ends of the professional classes during Sunday’s WPSA PowerSports Snowmobile Tour Grand Prix Ski-Doo de Valcourt Snocross race.

Morgan (No. 7c Blair Morgan Racing Team/Ski-Doo) returned to Valcourt after breaking his leg here last year; an injury that took him out for the season, at a time when he was comfortably in the lead in both the Pro Open and Pro Stock points. Morgan’s return to French Canada was made with an exclamation point as he was simply dominant here this weekend, as he ran away with both the Pro Stock and Pro Open finals.

VALCOURT, Quebec (Feb. 18, 2006) — Brett Turcotte beat out teammate Willie Elam to win Saturday’s WPSA PowerSports Snowmobile Tour Semi-Pro Stock race, part of the Grand Prix Ski-Doo de Valcourt at Circuit Yvon Duhamel.

Though Elam (No. 130 Blair Morgan Racing Team/Ski-Doo) grabbed the holeshot at the start, Turcotte (No. 196 Blair Morgan Racing Team/Ski-Doo) tracked him down going into the second turn. Taking the inside line, Turcotte took the point and then held off the charging Elam to secure the victory.

HILL CITY, Minn. (Feb. 11, 2006) — Ross Martin was simply unstoppable Saturday as he swept both Pro class races at Park X of Quadna during the WPSA PowerSports Snowmobile Tour Eastern National. In the process, the rider of the No. 837 Judnick Motorsports-DuPont/Polaris took the lead in Pro Stock points and widened his hold on the chase for the Pro Open title.

Martin’s victories were virtual carbon copies of each other. In both races, he took the holeshot and ran away from the field. The sweep was the second for Martin this year, who also won both the Pro Open and Pro Stock races at Canterbury Park earlier this season. The Pro Open victory was Martin’s second this season, and marked his third podium in Pro Open competition. It was also Martin’s second Pro Stock win and his third Stock class podium.

The BMR team arrived late Monday night, January 23 in Carbondale CO, (just outside of Aspen) to begin high altitude testing in preparation for Winter X-Games 10 which started Saturday, January 28th.

With parking at the X-games venue scheduled for Thursday, it left little time, the team worked hard Tuesday and Wednesday to get the sleds calibrated and the riders’ lungs ready for the most important single race of the season.

Special thanks must be extended to long time BMRT supporter Noel Crawford and his family for their generous support of our team, making a practise track on their land for our use. Tod Welch of Carbondale came with his groomer to shape the track for us, and Orin Moon of the Aspen Fire Department helped us get our rigs shiny clean using the departments fire truck! It was great to get a chance to meet up with the Crawford family, and Orin again, and also to meet Tod Welch….great people!
